In an effort to ensure the smooth conduct of Muharram 2024, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy, along with senior officers, reviewed preparations by inspecting the elephant procession route set for July 17 during a visit to Bibi-Ka-Alawa on Saturday.

Commissioner Reddy, accompanied by Additional CPs Vikram Singh Mann and P Viswa Prasad, and DCP South Zone Sneha Mehra, closely examined the route and subsequent arrangements. According to a press release from the PRO Hyderabad Police Commissionerate, a follow-up meeting was conducted at Purani Haveli office to discuss law and order, traffic diversions, and parking arrangements to ensure public safety during the event.

The police are committed to leaving no stone unturned in managing security and crowd control as the Muharram processions attract large gatherings. Muharram holds significant religious importance for Shia Muslims, and it witnesses participation from an estimated 7 to 8 crore Shia Muslims in India, aside from individuals from various religious backgrounds who engage in the processions and tazias.
