In a significant ruling, the Bombay High Court has granted interim relief to US fast-food giant Burger King, restraining a Pune-based eatery from using the brand name until September 6.

This decision follows Burger King's appeal against a Pune court's previous dismissal of their trademark infringement suit. The US company claimed that the local eatery's use of the name 'Burger King' was damaging their business and reputation.

The bench, comprised of Justices A S Chandurkar and Rajesh Patil, stated that they would first hear the company's application for an interim injunction on September 6, effectively extending the ad-interim order issued by the Pune court in January 2012.
