New Delhi (India), July 12 (ANI) – Delhi University (DU) has unveiled plans to introduce two pivotal academic programs: the creation of the Dr BR Ambedkar Chair and the launch of an undergraduate Russian language course, following announcements made at DU's 1018th Academic Council meeting.

The Dr BR Ambedkar Chair will be established upon receiving approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC), according to a statement from the university. Moreover, DU is set to offer a Russian language program at the undergraduate level for the first time, which will commence in the academic session 2024-2025.

The inclusion of the Russian language course in the BA (Hons) curriculum was affirmed by the Academic Council, adhering to the UGCF 2022 guidelines. Other notable decisions include the initiation of faculty appointments in government-funded colleges and the adoption of new course structures, teaching methods, and evaluation processes across various departments. DU's esteemed MSc Forensic Science program will now incorporate crime scene visits through police stations as part of their curriculum.

Further, the Academic Council has approved students' ability to pursue dual degrees simultaneously, enhancing educational flexibility. Degrees from Central Sanskrit University and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University will now be regarded as equivalent to DU degrees for research and employment. These changes signify DU's dedication to providing diverse and comprehensive educational opportunities.
