In an announcement on X, the Additional Directorate General Public Information of the Indian Army noted, "The Transplant team of Command Hospital Western Command, Chandimandir, achieved another milestone in organ donation after having successfully harvested the organ post-cardiac death, which is the first in the history of Armed Forces Medical Services #AFMS."
The Indian Army detailed that the kidneys were transported to another city and successfully transplanted into two recipients—one from the Indian Navy and another a dependent from the Indian Army—providing them a new lease of life.
