On Tuesday, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated the 'Run for Unity' event, kicking off from Dal Lake's banks, officials reported. The event was part of National Unity Day celebrations, marking Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary.

A sizeable crowd, including civil administration officers, police, and CRPF personnel, participated, highlighting a community spirit. Officials stressed unity's role in fostering peace and development, expressing gratitude to those involved in making the event successful.

Simultaneously, the Jammu and Kashmir Police observed Rashtriya Ekta Diwas across the region, celebrating Patel's unifying contributions. The main event at Armed Police Complex Zewan included a unity oath led by J-K Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat.
