A coalition of notable musicians, actors, and authors, including figures from ABBA, Radiohead, and The Cure, have voiced their opposition to the use of their creative works in training artificial intelligence tools.

Released on Tuesday, the protest letter is signed by thousands of artists. This marks the latest in a series of public cautions concerning AI's ability to generate synthetic content by leveraging existing human-made creations.

The petition warns that using such works without permission poses a significant threat to artists' livelihoods. Among the high-profile signatories are ABBA's Bjorn Ulvaeus, The Cure's Robert Smith, Radiohead's Thom Yorke, and authors like Kazuo Ishiguro, alongside actors Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon, and Rosario Dawson. Notably, bestselling novelist James Patterson, who signed a similar open letter organized by the Authors Guild, is also involved in ongoing legal actions against AI companies in federal court.
