In a significant tribute to history, Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein launched a cycling expedition from Namsai to Namti. This event is part of the 62nd Walong Day celebrations, honoring the valiant soldiers of the 1962 Sino-Indian War. The Indian Army, in collaboration with state authorities and the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited, is orchestrating the month-long event.

A total of 62 cyclists, including Indian Army personnel, women officers, and local youth, are participating in the expedition. They will traverse the scenic Lohit Valley, initiating their journey from the Golden Pagoda in Namsai and culminating at Namti, historically significant for the Battle of Walong site.

Lt. Col. Mahendra Rawat emphasized the expedition's dual purpose of paying homage to fallen heroes and promoting Lohit Valley as a tourist destination. The participants will interact with locals, fostering community ties while experiencing the valley's mesmerizing landscapes. The celebrations will continue until November 14.
