In a move to empower women and bring about fundamental change in society, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla lauded the Maharashtra government's 'Har Ghar Durga' self-defence training campaign on Monday.

The initiative, spearheaded by the state's skill development department, aims to provide free self-defence training to women enrolled in ITIs.

'Women are working in every sector. With proper self-defence training, they can experience a transformative change,' Birla noted, adding that the campaign is set to improve their skill sets and expand their career opportunities. State minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha highlighted that weekly sessions would ensure thorough training.
