Stephen Larkham will continue as the head coach of the ACT Brumbies until the end of the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season, following a contract extension. Larkham, who returned to Canberra in 2023 for his second stint as head coach, has guided the team to consecutive semi-final appearances in this primarily Australian and New Zealand provincial competition.
'I feel the Brumbies are in a great position heading into 2025, and I am excited to leverage our recent on-field strength in our preparations as we aim for further success next season,' Larkham, a former Wallabies flyhalf, stated in a media release on Monday. He also led the Brumbies to the playoffs during every season of his first tenure from 2014 to 2017.
Despite being Australia's most dominant side in Super Rugby, the Brumbies have yet to break New Zealand's dominance in the competition. The last Australian team to win the title was the New South Wales Waratahs in 2014. The Auckland-based Blues will defend their title in 2025.
