The world of Padel is set to take center stage once again as the second season of the World Padel League is scheduled to be held in India from February 6-9 next year. The news comes following the successful debut edition organized in Dubai.

Padel, a sport combining elements of tennis and squash, is played in an enclosed space with a net in the middle, but with a smaller court. Unlike tennis, players can hit off the enclosure to keep the ball in play, adding a unique twist to the game. The sport, invented by Mexican Enrique Corcuera in the 1970s, can be played either as doubles or singles.

The Indian Padel Federation's president Sneha Abraham Sehgal expressed optimism about the sport's future in India. ''Padel has been rapidly rising in India, and more people are increasingly interested in taking up the sport. With the World Padel League coming to India, it shows Padel's growing popularity in the country,'' she said in a recent release.
