India Triumphs in Tree Plantation Drive with 80 Crore Saplings

The Centre announced on Wednesday that 80 crore saplings have been planted under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, achieving this impressive milestone five days ahead of schedule.

The target to plant 80 crore saplings by September 2024 was reached on Wednesday, backed by the concerted efforts of government agencies, village-level institutions, local communities, and other stakeholders, according to a statement from the Union Environment Ministry.

Launched on World Environment Day, June 5, 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' is a nationwide tree plantation campaign encouraging people to plant trees in honor of their mothers. The campaign aims to combat land degradation and restore degraded land areas, promoting environmental conservation across the nation.
