Harvey Weinstein, once a titan in Hollywood, was swiftly transported to Bellevue Hospital from his New York City prison cell on Sunday, sources confirm. On Monday, the 72-year-old underwent critical heart surgery, according to his representatives.

Spokespeople Craig Rothfeld and Juda Engelmayer announced that Weinstein had endured several medical issues, necessitating the emergency procedure. "We confirm that Mr. Weinstein had a procedure and surgery on his heart today," they stated without elaborating on his condition.

ABC News initially reported the heart surgery. Weinstein, who was convicted of rape in 2020, has persistently denied engaging in any non-consensual sexual activity. The New York Court of Appeals overturned his conviction in April, citing a lack of a fair trial due to inadmissible testimonies. Weinstein is currently facing new charges, while also grappling with diabetes, high blood pressure, and recently, COVID and double pneumonia.
