Hollywood actor Tyrese Gibson has been arrested in Georgia for failing to pay child support to his ex-wife, Samantha Lee.
The 'Fast & Furious' star was detained after a contempt of court hearing where he was ordered to pay $73,525, inclusive of legal fees. This was to avoid jail time, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Appearing at Fulton County Superior Court, where the actor has an ongoing legal battle with Lee over their daughter Soraya, Gibson was mandated to pay $10,690 monthly in child support as of April 2023.
Judge Kevin Farmer found him in contempt for not meeting these payments, leading to his handcuffing and removal from the court by a bailiff.
Farmer had earlier allowed the actor 48 hours to settle the amount to avoid incarceration.
In an Instagram post, Gibson hinted at his impending arrest, criticizing the judge and the family court system, accusing them of bias.
Gibson and Lee married in 2017, welcomed Soraya in 2018, and announced their separation in 2020.
