A Ganesh procession in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam district encountered stone-pelting, leading to heavy security deployment, police revealed on Sunday.
The incident unfolded in Mochipura area when participants were carrying the idol for installation during the 10-day Ganesh festival.
Upon arrival, police found their vehicle damaged by stone-pelting. Superintendent of Police Rahul Kumar Lodha confirmed that the situation is now under control.
Approximately 500 individuals gathered at Station Road police station demanding action against an unknown person responsible for the stone-throwing.
Police registered a case against the unidentified person and went to the scene for investigation, followed by the crowd.
A subsequent stone-throw led to further stone-pelting and damage to a police vehicle's glass.
Officers used canes to disperse the crowd, and additional forces from Jaora town and Dhar district have been called in for reinforcement.
According to Lodha, the situation remains under control.
