BJP MLA Prashant Bamb from Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district has found himself in the spotlight after a video of him dancing to Amitabh Bachchan's iconic song 'Khaike paan Banaras wala' went viral on social media. The video elicited mixed reactions, with some netizens praising Bamb's dance moves while others criticized him for the timing of his performance.
Critics pointed out that while Bamb was dancing, farmers in parts of the Marathwada region were suffering from crop losses. Bamb, who represents the Gangapur assembly seat and was re-elected in 2019, performed the dance during an event held on Thursday night. The event was held at Mhaismal, a well-known tourist destination in the area.
In response to the criticism, Bamb explained that the dance was part of an annual entertainment program organized for his party workers. 'An entertainment programme is organised every year for my party workers. During this year's event held at Mhaismal, I danced to the 'Khaike paan Banaras wala' song. Before that, I also sang a Lavani, which is a part of Maharashtra's culture. I don't see anything wrong in it,' he told PTI.
