Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday visited flood-hit areas in Telangana, promising essential aid to farmers devastated by crop loss. The Centre, he affirmed, will provide necessary assistance to help farmers recover from the disaster.
Chouhan launched a veiled attack on the former BRS regime, alleging mismanagement of central funds and failure to implement beneficial schemes, such as the PM crop insurance scheme, which could have mitigated the current crisis. He emphasized the importance of both short-term and long-term plans to address the crop damage.
The Union Minister, accompanied by Union MoS (Home) Bandi Sanjay Kumar, met with affected farmers and assured them of collaborative efforts between the central and state governments. Observing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are deeply concerned, he promised a thorough assessment of the damage by a central team, pledging comprehensive support for relief and rehabilitation.
