The Himachal Pradesh Assembly has approved a resolution to accept a high committee report advocating for the controlled cultivation of cannabis for non-narcotic uses.
The committee, chaired by Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi, consulted public representatives and studied cannabis cultivation practices in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Madhya Pradesh before making its recommendations.
Negi emphasized that drug-free industrial hemp could yield multiple products, contributing to the state's resources. The seeds with less than 0.3% THC could be used for industrial hemp, while medicinal cannabis would grow under strict surveillance.
