A tragedy struck the village of Dabka in Gujarat's Vadodara district as one person lost his life and seven others sustained injuries while attempting to set up a Ganesh pandal, police reported on Wednesday.

The incident took place near a village temple around 11.45 pm on Tuesday during preparations for the upcoming Lord Ganesh festival, according to an officer from Vadu police station.

Prakash Jadhav died instantly when the iron rod he was helping to position hit a high-tension electric wire overhead. The seven injured individuals were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.
