Two workers were killed and four others, including two women, were injured in an explosion at a fireworks factory warehouse near Nazareth in the district on Saturday evening, according to the police.
The sudden blast occurred while the workers were handling firecrackers, leading to severe damage to the structure.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin expressed grief over the incident and announced financial aid of Rs 3 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs one lakh each to the injured. The deceased were identified as Kannan and Vijay. The injured, Selvam, Prasanth, Sendhurkani, and Muthumari, are receiving treatment at local hospitals.
