Century-old intelligent power management giant Eaton is set to bolster its presence in India by establishing a new research and development center in Tamil Nadu. The move underlines Eaton's commitment to the country's talent and technology infrastructure.

The facility, sprawling over 1 lakh sq ft in Sholinganallur, Chengalpet district, is slated for completion by the end of 2026. Chief Minister M K Stalin and Industries Minister TRB Rajaa, who are currently courting investors in the United States, inked a memorandum of understanding with Eaton's top officials for this strategic initiative.

According to a social media post by Chief Minister Stalin, the company will invest Rs 200 crore in the state to establish the R&D center, projected to generate 500 new job opportunities. Eaton's Country Director-India, Philipose Jacob, emphasized the significant role India plays in their global engineering and innovation efforts. The new facility aims to advance Eaton's capabilities in digitization, electrification, and energy transition, aligning with their sustainability and innovation goals.

Minister TRB Rajaa highlighted that this partnership supports Tamil Nadu's vision of becoming a hub for industrial growth and innovation, bringing economic benefits and a highly skilled workforce to the region. The collaboration with Eaton is expected to act as a catalyst for further technological and industrial advancements in Tamil Nadu.
