One person was killed and four others were injured after an explosion occurred at a firecracker manufacturing godown in Tamil Nadu's Salem district on Wednesday, according to officials. The incident happened in the morning when workers were transporting raw materials from a vehicle for the production of firecrackers, police said.

Authorities reported that a spark ignited the flammable materials as they were being moved into the unit, triggering an explosion that rapidly spread to other stored raw materials and firecrackers. The injured were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. A detailed investigation into the cause of the explosion is currently underway.

The local Veeranam police have registered a case and arrested the godown's owner. Further investigation is ongoing. (ANI)
