Malayalam film director Joshy Joseph has publicly addressed the wave of sexual harassment allegations engulfing the industry. In a conversation with ANI, Joseph recounted his three-hour interaction with a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and confirmed his plan to give another statement before a magistrate, highlighting a crisis in the industry.

Bengali actress Sreelekha Mitra lodged a formal complaint with the Kochi City Police against director Ranjith, following his resignation from the Kerala State Chalachithra Academy. Mitra's complaint stems from a 2009 incident where Ranjith allegedly made inappropriate advances during a film discussion in Kochi.

Mitra's email detailed her ordeal, explaining that Ranjith clutched her hand and attempted further inappropriate contact. She initially refrained from legal action due to unfamiliarity with local legal procedures, but now seeks justice. Her complaint comes amid revelations from the Justice Hema Committee report on widespread harassment in the Malayalam film industry.

The Kerala government has noted these developments and announced the formation of a special investigation team to probe the allegations. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has convened meetings with senior police officials to address the crisis.
