High Voter Turnout in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Polls
The first phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls recorded a 26.72 per cent voter turnout by 11 am, with Pahalgam showing the highest participation in the Kashmir valley at 31.62 per cent. The elections, held for the first time since Article 370 was abrogated, are taking place in 24 constituencies across seven districts.

A voter turnout of 26.72 per cent was recorded till 11 am in the first phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls on Wednesday, the Election Commission reported.
The voting commenced at 7 am under stringent security measures.
According to officials, among the 16 assembly segments in the Kashmir valley, Pahalgam recorded the highest voter turnout at 31.62 per cent, followed by Kokernag (ST) at 29 per cent, and D H Pora at 27.74 per cent.
Anantnag registered the lowest turnout at 16.9 per cent, officials stated.
In the Jammu region, the Inderwal seat saw the highest voter percentage at 40.36 per cent.
These polls mark the first electoral exercise since the abrogation of Article 370, and polling is ongoing in 24 constituencies across seven districts of the Union Territory.
