Sajad Lone, president of the People's Conference, announced on Thursday that his party would back any resolution in the Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly seeking to restore Article 370. However, he emphasized that only the Parliament possesses the authority to reinstate J-K's special status.
He released the party's manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections, which includes promises to fight for the restoration of Article 370 and statehood and resolve the longstanding Kashmir issue. Lone added that passing a resolution in the assembly was primarily a 'moral thing.'
Lone also mentioned the potential partial restoration of Article 35A with the assembly's efforts if statehood returns, likening it to actions taken by Himachal Pradesh. Additionally, he confirmed that the People's Conference would contest the upcoming elections independently.
