Rajgir to Host Prestigious Women's Asian Champions Trophy Hockey Tournament

The ancient city of Rajgir in Bihar will host the Women's Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament from November 11-20. The event is a joint venture between Hockey India and the Bihar government, and will take place at the new Rajgir Hockey Stadium. Six teams, including defending champions India and reigning Olympic silver medallists China, will participate.

The ancient city of Rajgir in Bihar is set to host the Women's Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament from November 11-20, announced the sport's governing body on Thursday. This event, organized jointly by Hockey India and the Bihar government, will be held at the newly-developed Rajgir Hockey Stadium, marking a historic first for Bihar.

Last year's edition in Ranchi saw hosts India clinch the title. This year, defending champions India will compete against other top teams, including Olympic silver medallists China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar extended a warm welcome to all participating teams and expressed his delight in hosting the prestigious event.

Dato Fumio Ogura, president of the Asian Hockey Federation, praised Hockey India's commitment, while Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey remarked on the historic significance of holding an international tournament in Bihar. The collaboration aims to make the event a grand success.
