The sacred city of Mathura is celebrating the grand Krishna Janmashtami Mahotsav, marking the birth of Lord Krishna. The festivities, starting Monday, have drawn thousands of devotees with religious rituals and cultural performances.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath kicked off the Shri Krishna Janmotsav in Mathura, thanking the government for the event's infrastructure. Kathak dancer Yasmin Singh expressed joy performing on this auspicious day.
Following the ceremony, Adityanath prayed at the Banke Bihari Temple, congratulating the state on the occasion and wishing prosperity to all. National leaders, including President Murmu and PM Modi, also extended greetings. ISKCON temples have seen massive turnouts for prayers and activities.
Security in Mathura has intensified, with over 2,000 personnel deployed and drones monitoring the crowds. The celebrations in Mathura and Vrindavan are particularly grand, filled with devotional energy and excitement.
