A tragic collision claimed eight lives and left ten others injured in Haryana's Jind district, police reported Tuesday.

The accident happened shortly after midnight in Bidharana village on the Hisar national highway, when a truck collided with a stationary vehicle filled with devotees.

Inspector Kuldeep, SHO of Sadar Narwana, stated that the injured were quickly taken to hospitals in Jind and Agroha.

The devotees, traveling from Kurukshetra district to a temple in Gogamedi, Rajasthan, had paused for a brief halt when the truck rammed into their light commercial vehicle, the SHO said over the phone.

Among the deceased were two women and a teenager, while the ten injured individuals are now reported to be out of danger. Police have registered a case regarding the incident.
