In a tragic incident, two women devotees lost their lives and five others were injured when an ambulance hit them on their way to Tirumala in Tirupati district.

The accident happened around 4 am between Rangampeta and Mangapuram, according to local police. The ambulance, coming from Piler, reportedly hit seven devotees from behind.

The Tirupati superintendent of police, L Subba Rayudu, suggested fog could have contributed to the accident. He advised devotees walking to the temple to stick to the roadside and remain alert to avoid similar tragedies during the fog-prone winter nights.
