Dahi Handi Cancellations Rock Thane District Amid Sexual Assault Outrage

No Dahi Handi celebrations are being held in Thane's Badlapur area following the sexual assault of two schoolgirls. No Dahi Handi event is set to take place in Badlapur, Thane district, following the shocking incident of two schoolgirls being sexually assaulted, as confirmed by several event organizers on Monday.

MNS MLA Raju Patil revealed that his party has also cancelled its Dahi Handi event in nearby Ulhasnagar, while the one in Dombivali has similarly been called off.

The decision was influenced by the public's sentiments, said Patil.

The schoolgirls were allegedly assaulted by an attendant, leading to significant protests in Badlapur on August 20, which disrupted suburban services for more than 10 hours.

Further allegations have emerged against the police for their lax handling of the case, including making the victims' parents wait for hours before filing a complaint.
