Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Odisha on September 17 to inaugurate the 'Subhadra Yojana,' a significant initiative by the BJP-led state government aimed at empowering women. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan confirmed this information on Sunday.

Following his visit to the Jagannath temple in Puri, Union Education Minister Pradhan revealed that Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and his two deputies had extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to launch the scheme. PM Modi has accepted the invitation.

'During elections, we pledged to empower women by providing Rs 50,000 to each. The people of Odisha have shown their trust in us. The BJP government in Odisha, led by CM Mohan Majhi, has released the SOP for the rollout of the scheme,' Pradhan stated. He added that over one crore women aged between 21-60 years, under the BPL category, would receive Rs 10,000 annually for five years under the scheme. On another note, Pradhan mentioned that a high-level ASI team will soon inspect the Ratna Bhandar treasury of the Jagannath temple as requested by the state government.
