Veteran Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has officially announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. This decision comes two years after his last appearance for the national team, and it brings an end to a distinguished career that began with his ODI debut in 2010 against Australia in Visakhapatnam.
The 38-year-old made the announcement on social media platform 'X', expressing gratitude and contentment. 'As I close this chapter of my cricketing journey, I carry with me countless memories and gratitude. Thank you for the love and support! Jai Hind!' Dhawan wrote.
Dhawan's career statistics paint a picture of consistency and excellence: he played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is for India. Notably, he amassed 6793 runs in ODIs at an average of 44.11, and 2315 runs in Tests with an average of 40.61.
