Yash Raj Films (YRF) has officially announced a third installment in its popular action thriller franchise 'Mardaani,' starring Rani Mukerji. The announcement coincides with the 10th anniversary of the first film's release.

The debut 'Mardaani' film, directed by the late Pradeep Sarkar, released on August 22, 2014, was both a commercial and critical success, spawning a sequel in 2019, 'Mardaani 2,' directed by Gopi Puthran. Rani Mukerji eagerly anticipates reprising her role as tough cop Shivani Shivaji Roy.

Reflecting on the franchise, Mukerji highlighted the importance of portraying strong female leads in cinema, saluting the relentless work of women in the police force and aiming to continue subverting gender norms.
