Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid homage to the late Maharaja of Jamnagar at the 'Good Maharaja Square' in Warsaw, Poland, emphasizing the crucial role of humanity and compassion in fostering a just and peaceful world.

Modi, who arrived in the Polish capital for a two-day visit, laid a wreath at the memorial site honoring the humanitarian efforts of Jam Saheb Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja, the Maharaja who provided shelter to nearly 1,000 Polish children during World War II.

Fondly remembered in Poland as 'Dobry Maharaja,' the Maharaja's legacy continues to strengthen India-Poland relations. The memorial was unveiled in October 2014, and numerous Polish schools bear his name.
