India is set to develop complete ecosystems for the Animation, VFX, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) sector, announced Sanjay Jaju, Information and Broadcasting Secretary, at the CII Summit FX 2024.
Jaju revealed that steps will be taken over the next six months to implement the AVGC Taskforce's recommendations. These include establishing a National Mission on AVGC to make India a global content hub and generate significant economic and employment potential.
India has made significant strides in the AVGC sector, positioning itself as both a consumer and creator of entertainment. Jaju and Skill and Entrepreneurship Ministry Secretary Atul Kumar Tiwari have released a report titled 'FX & Beyond: Shaping India's AVGC Landscape: An Immersive Media Experience', which calls for a National AVGC-XR Mission to provide a clear vision for the industry. The report also highlights the need to reduce import duties on essential equipment and implement legislation to curb piracy.
