An organization of Lord Ganesha devotees celebrated Raksha Bandhan on Monday by presenting a massive 13x13 ft rakhi, themed around environmental preservation, to their deity in Indore.
Rahul Sharma, secretary of 'Shri Vighnaharta Ganesh Bhakt Samiti,' highlighted that the rakhi incorporates the message of environmental conservation and was offered at the Khajrana Ganesh temple on this auspicious day. The 169-sqft rakhi, featuring a 101-metre-long string, weighs 125 kg and took 15 artists two weeks to complete.
Additionally, the rakhi bears the name of the plantation campaign 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,' initiated on World Environment Day under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. The organization asserts this as the world's largest rakhi focusing on environmental themes."While offering the rakhi to Lord Ganesha, we prayed for his protection of Earth from global warming and climate change. Our goal is to raise public awareness about environmental conservation," Sharma added.
