In an inspiring initiative, a session was organized to train women inmates of Thane Central Jail in making 'rakhis.' The event, held in collaboration with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, aimed to equip inmates with new skills and provide them with a source of income.
The training took place from August 5 to 9, during which the inmates successfully crafted 670 rakhis. According to Thane Central Jail Superintendent Rani Bhosale, these rakhis are now available for sale, offering a unique opportunity for the public to support the inmates.
Bhosale highlighted that the proceeds from the sales would be directly deposited into the bank accounts of the inmates, thus granting them financial independence and a sense of accomplishment.
