Students from several medical colleges staged a procession in Kolkata on Sunday to demand justice for a doctor allegedly raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Carrying posters and placards, protesters chanted for harsh penalties for the perpetrators of the August 9 crime.
Defying heavy rainfall, they traversed ankle-deep waters from College Street to Shyambazar.
The demonstrators also demanded a speedy investigation by the CBI, which took over the case from the Calcutta High Court.
The postgraduate trainee doctor was reportedly raped and murdered while on duty at RG Kar MCH. During a demonstration on August 15, a mob vandalized parts of the hospital.
