Delhi Home Minister Lauds Kejriwal as Modern Day Freedom Fighter

During an Independence Day event at Chhatrasal stadium, Delhi Home Minister Kailash Gahlot praised Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently in jail, labeling him a 'modern day freedom fighter.' Gahlot highlighted Kejriwal's contributions to education, healthcare, and public services in Delhi.

Delhi Home Minister Kailash Gahlot hoisted the national flag at Chhatrasal stadium on Independence Day, notably in the absence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, whom he described as a 'modern day freedom fighter.'

Gahlot expressed his distress over Kejriwal's incarceration, stating that the elected Chief Minister is being punished for his efforts to serve the people. 'Standing under this flag, I can say proudly that Arvind Kejriwal is a modern day freedom fighter because he accepted the punishment to work for the people of Delhi by going to jail, but did not bow down or break in front of the anti-democratic forces,' he remarked.

He emphasized that India's freedom was not won just to imprison an elected leader, but to eradicate illiteracy, poverty, unemployment, and disease. Gahlot praised Kejriwal's initiatives in education, healthcare, and other public services, attributing them to the progress of Delhi. Additionally, he pointed out the resilience of India's democracy, citing the release of former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia from jail as an example.

Despite Kejriwal's absence, Gahlot assured that the Delhi government led by the Aam Aadmi Party would continue to provide free electricity, education, healthcare, and bus rides for women, staying true to Kejriwal's vision.
