The Indian government has provided a comprehensive update on the support extended to women and children in Manipur's refugee camps. According to Women and Child Development Minister Annpurna Devi, over 6,000 children, 2,600 adolescent girls, 232 pregnant women, and 753 lactating mothers have been linked to 271 nearby anganwadi centres.

In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Devi highlighted the government's efforts to aid displaced individuals. Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, 103 pregnant women expecting their first child have been enrolled, with 70 receiving Rs 3,000 and 33 receiving Rs 2,000 in installments. Additionally, 53 women expecting a second-born baby girl have received Rs 6,000 each.

Furthermore, 359 anganwadi workers and 268 helpers have been actively engaged in managing temporary services at the relief camps. Responding to a request from the Manipur government, the Centre has approved a special assistance of Rs 400.42 crore for the displaced persons. This aid comes post the ethnic violence between the Imphal valley-based Meiteis and the hills-based Kukis, rendering over 200 people dead and thousands homeless.
