A Kuki organisation has called for the registration of an FIR and an in-depth investigation into Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, alleging a conspiracy to incite large-scale ethnic violence against the Kuki community.
The Kuki Organization for Human Rights Trust (KOHUR) communicated this demand to the Supreme Court-appointed officer overseeing the probe into ethnic violence cases in Manipur.
KOHUR referenced a leaked audio allegedly of the chief minister and urged action. The Manipur government has dismissed the recording as doctored. KOHUR insists if the audio is proven false, those responsible should be prosecuted.
Kuki groups argue this clip evidences the CM's involvement in ethnic violence, accusations Singh denies, calling it a conspiracy. Over 200 people have died, and thousands have been displaced in ongoing clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities since May last year.
