Delhi Sets Up Largest Kanwar Camp at Kashmere Gate for 20,000 Devotees

The Delhi government has established the country's largest Kanwar camp at Kashmere Gate, capable of accommodating 20,000 devotees, announced Revenue Minister Atishi on Wednesday. The minister visited the camp to review preparations and directed the administration to stay vigilant throughout the Kanwar Yatra to ensure the safety and well-being of the Kanwariyas, an official statement confirmed.

Atishi highlighted that the camp features separate halls for male and female Kanwariyas, along with a spacious dining hall for receiving 'prasad.' Delhi has set up 185 Kanwar camps, all equipped with essential facilities such as waterproof tents, sleeping arrangements, clean water, and toilets.

Medical staff will be on duty round the clock in all camps to provide immediate treatment when necessary. Additionally, local dispensaries are linked to the camps, with CATS ambulances on standby for emergencies. The Kanwar Yatra, which began on the first day of the holy month of Sawan (Shravan) on Monday, will conclude on August 2 when Ganga water is offered to Lord Shiva. A significant number of Kanwariyas are expected to pass through Delhi en route to Haryana and Rajasthan.
