Multiple award-winning actor Colin Firth has joined the cast of Guy Ritchie's upcoming show based on young Sherlock Holmes, titled 'Young Sherlock' on Prime Video.

Billed as a thrilling original story of the famed detective, the series stars Hero Fiennes Tiffin in the titular role. Colin Firth will portray Sir Bucephalus Hodge, although further details about his character remain under wraps, according to Variety.

The eight-episode series is inspired by Andy Lane's critically-acclaimed book series 'Young Sherlock Holmes,' which reimagines the iconic detective created by Arthur Conan Doyle. The cast also includes Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, and Zine Tseng.

Guy Ritchie, known for directing 'Sherlock Holmes' and 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows' starring Robert Downey Jr., will both direct and executive produce the new series. Matthew Parkhill is attached as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner.

Firth, renowned for his roles in 'The King's Speech,' 'Pride and Prejudice,' and the 'Bridget Jones' franchise, was recently seen in the Max limited series 'The Staircase.'
