The juggernaut of 'Kalki 2898 AD' shows no signs of slowing down as the sci-fi spectacle is the latest Indian film to hit the Rs 1,000 crore milestone in box office collections worldwide.
According to production house Vyjayanthi Movies, Nag Ashwin's ambitious directorial has skyrocketed to become a part of the prestigious club of superhit films, achieving this remarkable feat in less than a month of its release. Starring iconic actors Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone, 'Kalki 2898 AD', which blends mythological and sci-fi elements, premiered on June 27 across theaters globally in six languages.
On Saturday, the makers shared a triumphant poster on X, highlighting 'Epic Maha Blockbuster 1000 crore +' and expressed their gratitude to the worldwide audience for their overwhelming support. The production team stated, '1000 CRORES and counting. This milestone is a celebration of your love. We poured our hearts into this film, and you embraced it with open hearts. Thank you to the audience across the world.' The film follows in the footsteps of other Indian blockbusters, including Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan' and 'Jawan', SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' and 'Baahubali: The Conclusion', Aamir Khan's 'Dangal', and 'KGF: Chapter 2'.
Director Ashwin, known for his National Award-winning Telugu movie 'Mahanati', is set to attend a special screening of the film at the TCL Chinese Theatres in Los Angeles on Saturday, followed by a Q&A session. Touted as the most expensive film produced in India, with a reported budget of Rs 600 crore, 'Kalki 2898 AD' also stars Disha Patani, Saswata Chatterjee, and Shobhana. Previously titled 'Project K', the movie was released worldwide in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English.
