Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday released sketches of three terrorists responsible for the recent killing of four soldiers, including a captain, in Doda district, and announced a cash reward of Rs 15 lakh for information leading to their capture.

Doda in the Jammu region has witnessed increased terror activity since June, attributed by security agencies to efforts by Pakistan-based handlers to revive terrorism in the hilly district.

According to a police spokesman in Doda, the three terrorists are believed to be moving in the upper reaches of the district, particularly in Dessa forest, where an army captain and three soldiers were killed in a gunfight during an anti-terror operation on July 16.

J&K Police has put a Rs 5 lakh bounty on each of the three terrorists and has urged the public to provide information about them, assuring that the identity of informers will be kept confidential.

Authorities have shared over a dozen phone and mobile numbers, including those of senior police officers and the control room, for people to contact.

In addition to the deadly encounter in Dessa forest, at least 10 security personnel have been injured in separate attacks in various locations including Chattergalla pass, Gandoh, Kastigarh, and Ghadi Bagwah forest between June 12 and July 18.

Three terrorists were killed in a day-long operation in the Gandoh area on June 26.
