The Telangana government has launched a new initiative to provide free electricity to state-run educational institutions, a move aimed at improving the quality of education.

Effective immediately, the scheme requires power distribution companies (DISCOMS) to set up an online portal for billing and report generation, accessible to relevant departments.

The initiative will be integrated with the finance department to streamline budgetary allocations and payments. Announced by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the scheme draws inspiration from similar successful efforts in Delhi.
