Ranvir Shorey, known for his impactful performances in films like 'Khosla Ka Ghosla' and 'Sonchiriya,' believes he has earned his stripes as a supporting actor and is now ready for leading roles. Shorey is currently preparing for actor-director Rajat Kapoor's Macbeth-inspired play, 'What's Done Is Done,' set to premiere at the upcoming fifth edition of the Delhi Theatre Festival.

'My wishlist is lead roles. I have paid my dues as a supporting actor more than a number of times in my career,' Shorey told PTI. 'I think I deserve a promotion in my career... And if not now, then it is gone.'

Recently gaining attention for his role in the detective drama series 'Shekhar Home' and his participation in the reality show 'Big Boss OTT 3,' the 52-year-old actor said he is grateful for the current surge in recognition. 'Coming straight out of the reality show and getting this perfectly timed release, which has done so well and received so well. It is a godsend. I am so grateful,' quipped Shorey.

Directed by Rohan Sippy and Srijit Mukherjee, 'Shekhar Home' draws inspiration from Arthur Conan Doyle's literary works and features Kay Kay Menon, Rasika Dugal, and Kirti Kulhari alongside Shorey. Despite his selective involvement in theatre, Shorey stated it's not his primary passion but a way to hone his craft. 'Theatre is not my first love; cinema is my first love,' he revealed.

However, his long-standing association with Rajat Kapoor and Vinay Pathak remains strong with collaborative works like 'The Blue Mug' and 'C For Clown.' Shorey admitted he'd work with them more frequently if not for financial constraints, expressing his fondness for their aesthetics and working style.

The Delhi Theatre Festival will also showcase performances by esteemed artists such as Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Shabana Azmi, and Lillete Dubey at prominent venues in Delhi and Gurugram.
