Former Education Minister and AAP leader Manish Sisodia has called for teachers' salaries to be higher than those of IAS officers as India aims for developed country status by 2047. He made these remarks at the 'Shikshak Samman Samaroh,' held by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Teachers' Day.

'Today, there is a lot of talk about India of 2047. The teachers who are sitting here today, the children you have with you are very important for 2047. The India of 2047 depends on these children. But even policy makers have to do something for them,' Sisodia stated during the event.

Sisodia mentioned that in many developed countries, teachers earn more than bureaucrats, citing Germany and Switzerland as examples. He also spoke about his time in Tihar Jail, where he spent extensive hours reading about global educational systems. Sisodia was incarcerated for 17 months in a money laundering case linked to the excise policy and was recently granted bail.
