Today, at the Central University of Rajasthan in Ajmer, Vice-President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar expressed strong concerns about individuals in constitutional positions who, despite taking an oath to uphold the Constitution, are reportedly compromising national interests and promoting anti-national conduct. He described this behavior as “despicable, condemnable, and reprehensible” and underscored that the nation's interests must not be sacrificed for those of its enemies.

Shri Dhankhar highlighted that such conduct undermines the dignity of India’s institutions and affects the nation’s image on the global stage. “The world laughs at us when individuals in constitutional roles behave abroad in ways that disregard their oath, neglect national interests, and undermine institutional dignity,” he stated.

Addressing a gathering of students and faculty, Shri Dhankhar questioned the rationale behind actions that do not align with the nation's appropriate conduct and emphasized the need to focus on national aspirations rather than adversarial ambitions. He reminded the audience that history has not forgiven those who acted against their country's interests and urged citizens to act as ambassadors of Indian culture and nationalism when abroad.

Citing the leadership of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Shri Dhankhar praised his effective representation of India’s interests on global platforms, emphasizing that political roles should not detract from national unity and integrity. “Political parties should manage their own affairs, but the nation’s interests must always come first,” he asserted.

The Vice-President also advocated for the adoption of the new National Education Policy (NEP), which he described as a landmark change in Indian education after three decades. He urged states that have not yet adopted the NEP to do so, noting that it is a national initiative rather than a political one. “The NEP has been developed with extensive stakeholder inputs and aims to make education more relevant to students’ aptitudes and attitudes,” he explained.

Shri Dhankhar stressed that education is a powerful tool for societal change and equality, moving beyond textbooks to address social disparities. He highlighted the transformative impact of quality education and noted that esteemed leaders, including the President and Prime Minister, often come from backgrounds previously considered unprivileged.

The event was attended by notable figures including Prof. Anand Bhalerao, Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Rajasthan, and Prof. Alpana Kateja, Vice-Chancellor of University of Rajasthan, among others.
