Suspected North Korean Uranium Enrichment Facility Uncovered: Experts Believe Kangson Exists
Photos of North Korea's uranium enrichment facility show potentially undeclared sites used to build nuclear bombs, said analysts. Images released on Friday show Kim Jong Un inspecting centrifuges. Experts believe this site, known as Kangson, matches satellite imagery, suggesting expansion in North Korea's nuclear capabilities.
Analysts have raised alarms over images of what is believed to be North Korea's undeclared uranium enrichment facility, potentially used for nuclear bomb production. The photos, released Friday, show Leader Kim Jong Un inspecting rows of centrifuges.
Experts pointed to the site known as Kangson, suggesting significant expansion in North Korea's nuclear ambitions. Jeffrey Lewis from the Middlebury Institute emphasized the resemblance between the facility and satellite imagery of the suspected site.
Commercial satellite imagery has shown developments at both the Yongbyon Nuclear Scientific Research Center and Kangson, said analysts. Rafael Grossi from the International Atomic Energy Agency noted new constructions in the Kangson complex this year, reaffirming its status as a significant nuclear site. The visuals hint at advanced uranium enrichment capacity, reaffirming North Korea's nuclear capabilities.
