A private school teacher was taken into custody on Monday after allegedly beating a student for failing to recite the multiplication table of seven, police confirmed on Monday. The teacher has been identified as Ashok, a resident of Torda village.

According to a complaint lodged by the boy's father, Pramod, his 8-year-old son returned home with severe bruises. Pramod claimed that Ashok, the boy's teacher, had asked him to recite the table of seven and, when the boy failed, Ashok beat him mercilessly.

'He complained to me about the incident when he reached home after school. He had bruises on his buttocks. When I confronted Ashok, he slapped me and threatened further consequences,' Pramod stated in his police complaint. An FIR has been filed under relevant sections, and Ashok was subsequently arrested.
